A teenager who drunkenly beat a man in an unprovoked attack has been jailed for 18 months.

Nineteen-year-old Jamie Christopher Hall, of Murray's Road in Douglas, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm on Ben Haslam.

The attack happened on the evening of August 1 when the pair were with a group of people at a property in Castle Mona Avenue, Douglas.

Hall punched Mr Haslam hard in the face, and Mr Haslam left the building.

But Hall followed him outside and continued the attack, breaking Mr Haslam's nose and knocking out some of his teeth, among a number of serious facial injuries.

Hall's advocate said her client knew he faced custody because of his previous convictions, but asked the court for leniency because of his age and immediate guilty plea.

She added he was extremely drunk at the time of the incident.

But Deemster Doyle said the attack had been unprovoked, sustained and had clearly resulted in serious injuries.
