Police probe Christmas Day assault on woman

A woman was assaulted in Douglas in the early hours of Christmas Day.

The 40-year-old ended up with what police have described as significant facial injuries after being attacked in the Oxford Street area at around half past midnight.

She was walking home alone via Prospect Terrace and Sydney Street.

After crossing into Oxford Street, she was grabbed from behind, knocked to the ground and assaulted.

Police have launched an appeal for information and are anxious to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information that could help their enquiries.
