Icy roads warning from police

by isleofman.com 24th December 2009

With temperatures due to drop below freezing tonight (Thursday), police are urging motorists not to risk ruining their Christmases, by driving recklessly in icy conditions.

The Department of Transport is expected to grit some of the main roads around the Island, but Inspector Richard Power, from the Road Policing Unit, says other routes could be extremely trecherous.

He says it's easy to lose concentration when driving at this time of the year (play audio file):

According to the Met Office at Ronaldsway, Christmas Day will be frosty at first, then dry and bright, with rain arriving after dark.
