Often described as 'the guitarist's guitarist', award-winning Martin Simpson will play a gig at Peel's Centenary Centre on Saturday 27th February, 2010.
With a musical career spanning 35 years, Martin is now rightly recognised as one of the finest acoustic/slide guitar players in the world.
He is also a brilliant songwriter who brings subtlety and passion to his own - and others' - material, be it blues, acoustic, old-time or world music in style.
His stage and live collaborations have included Dick Gaughan, June Tabor, Jackson Browne and Martin Carthy.
A stalwart of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, he has enjoyed ten nominations and five wins over the years. Now, he has been nominated for a record six BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for 2010, including Folk Singer of the Year, Musician of the year, Album of the Year, Best Traditional track, and two nominations for Best Original Song!
Martin will be joined onstage in Peel by his great band, including Andy Cutting (previous Musician of the year award winner), BJ Cole (the internationally acclaimed pedal steel guitar player), drummer Keith Angel and Andy Seward, who has played with the Angel Brothers and Kate Rusby.
Noted for his spellbinding live shows, Martin's appearance on the Isle of Man is a must for any music lover.
