Containers stranded in Lancashire

Supermarkets in the Isle of Man were left playing catch-up when a lack of grit salt stranded supplies in Heysham.

Container trucks carrying produce for retailers couldn't be loaded onto the Ben-my-Chree, after health and safety officials ruled it would be dangerous in the icy conditions.

The run-up to Christmas is the busiest time of the year, but Marks and Spencer store manager Kenny Marshall doesn't think there will be any problem for the majority of customers in his shop:
