Internationally renowned physical theatre company Frantic Assembly is heading to the Isle of Man to give creative inspiration to aspiring performers.
Since its formation in 1994, Frantic Assembly has toured extensively throughout the UK and abroad, building its reputation as one of the country's most exciting companies. Their adaptation of Othello was a huge hit with critics and audiences and recently won ‘Best Director’ at the Theatrical Management Association Awards.
Through the Arts Council, Frantic Assembly will visit the Island between 18th and 22nd January 2010. Creative Associate Neil Bettles will be working with secondary schools and also leading two-hour physical theatre workshops for people aged over 18.
These workshops, which take plaec in the Studio Theatre in Ballakermeen High School on 19th and 20th January, will offer participants an opportunity to discover the company's unique approach to creating physical material in an energised, creative atmosphere.
Emma Callin, Arts Development Manager said, "We’re delighted to be able to bring this opportunity to actors on the Isle of Man. Physical theatre is not very prevalent here and this will be a chance to learn more about the technicalities of this type of performance."
