Wintry showers set to continue

by isleofman.com 20th December 2009

The Mountain Road was closed to traffic after heavy snow fell over the route last night (Saturday).

Driving conditions have been described as hazardous in parts of the Island today, and police were repeating yesterday’s warnings for people to travel only if they needed to.

The Island's buses were suspended at the start of the day, but things gradually got back to normal and only the service to Ballachrink in Onchan was affected by lunchtime.

Today's sporting fixtures were also hit, with all the football training sessions and matches called off because of the weather.

Further wintry showers are forecast for this afternoon and tomorrow.

Meanwhile, police officers are reminding motorists they must stop if they are involved in an accident with another vehicle, no matter how minor.

If the owner can't be found the incident must be reported to the police as soon as possible.
