Job offer scam warning from FSC

by isleofman.com 19th December 2009

If you've had a job offer out of the blue from Potential Petroleum it is too good to be true, says the Financial Supervision Commission.

People approached are asked to complete a "Police Clearance Application Form", an attempt at duplicating an official document, and are asked to pay an advance fee for processing it.

In relation to this bogus form you're asked to contact "John Mark QC & Associates" at 54 – 58, Athol Street, Douglas, Isle of Man.

The FSC says there is no such person at this address, the documentation is fake and Potential Petrolium is not an Isle of Man-registered company.

You're advised to ignore the offer, which seems to be an advance fee fraud, however if you have responded and are worried, contact the FSC's Enforcement Division on 689313.
