The final Swagelok League Match of the season saw Douglas retain the trophy, with a convincing 369 points over the four matches.  A much improved Southern managed to hold of Ramseian for 2nd place with 260, whilst the northern club’s total was 252.

Star of the evening was 12 year old Ramseian swimmer, Stephanie Brew (pictured), who started off with a win in the Open 200m butterfly, breaking 3 mins for the first time with 2 min 54.40.

Later on she recorded 1 min 23.78 to win the 12 years 100m breaststroke, yet another spectacular pb, and finished 2nd to her club mate, Katie Callow, in the 12 years 50m backstroke.

It was a swimmer at the other end of the age range who produced the goods in the Men's 200m butterfly, with 42-year-old Rob Frize, swimming for Douglas, showing his younger rivals a clean pair of heals with 2 min 33.84.

Recently returned from illness, Ramseian’s Heather Miller featured in the top two in all the remaining Open and 15 and Over events, with wins in the 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

Breaststroke specialist Poppy Evans, also for Ramseian, denied her victory in the 50m breaststroke, whilst Southern’s Hannah Howitt proved just too strong in the 200m individual medley.  Howitt also won the 14 years 50m breaststroke and 100m freestyle and finished 2nd in the 0pen 100m backstroke.

In the Men's Open and 15 and over, it was Phillip Harrison, for Douglas, who was the top swimmer with wins in the 50m breaststroke, 100m freestyle and backstroke and 200m individual medley.

Ramseian’s Connor Christian was victorious in the 50m butterfly to go with his 2nd place in the 200m individual medley.  Tom Kelly, for Southern, finished the evening with 2nd places in all four of the shorter races.

Ramseian’s Joshua Corteen had three impressive wins in the 9 years 25 backstroke, 50m butterfly and 100m individual medley.  The corresponding girls events were much closer fought, with Ciara Danes for Southern, and Cara Bregazzi for Douglas, battling it out.  The backstroke and butterfly went the way of Danes, with Bregazzi getting revenge in the individual medley.

The three leading girls in the 13 years category, all representing Douglas, took a victory each with Laura Kinley the 50m breaststroke, Allana Kelly the 50m freestyle and Charlotte Atkinson the 100m butterfly in a very impressive pb of 1 min 13.58.

In the corresponding Boys' races, Mark Copparelli won the latter two for Douglas, with Southern’s Guy Davies taking the sprint breaststroke, Amy Kinley (Douglas) is making quite a habit of double wins, and did it again in the 50m butterfly and 100m backstroke in the 11 years events.

Also for Douglas, Ben Kebbell was denied the same brace of wins by Southern’s Jacob Callow who pushed him into second place in the butterfly, but no one could stay with him in the backstroke.

The ten year olds just had one event, the 100m individual medley, and as expected victory went to Ciara Cassidy for Douglas and Jamie Corlett for Ramseian.

Duncan Wilson was a clear winner in the 12 years 50m backstroke and 100m breaststroke for Douglas, whilst Southern’s Andrew Corkill took the 14 years 50m breaststroke and 100m freestyle.
