A Manx pilot who put her plane down in the sea off Blackpool after suffering engine problems has had a miraculous escape.

The female pilot flying alone, diverted to Blackpool when problems arose during a flight from Guernsey to the Isle of Man.

But she ditched the Piper twin Comanche aircraft 22 miles off the Lancashire coast and climbed out of the cockpit onto the wing while it was still afloat. She was rescued by helicopter and is now recovering in hospital.
