Steam packet aims to clear backlog

The Steam Packet is this morning working through a backlog of passengers and getting things back on track, after a breakdown caused two sailings to be cancelled.

Yesterday evening's quarter-to-eight journey from Douglas to Heysham and this morning's quarter-past-two return from the Lancashire port were pulled following massive delays.

Problems with a fuel pump and extremely low tides caused the Ben-my-Chree to be at sea for around ten hours after leaving the Island yesterday morning.

Steam Packet CEO Mark Woodward says the great weather we're currently experiencing played a big part in yesterday's holdup once the pump was fixed:
