Seal adoption scheme at Ard Jerykll

by isleofman.com 16th December 2009

A Christmas gift with a difference could help sustain the numbers of a popular marine mammal in the waters around the Isle of Man.

The MSPCA is running an adoption-share scheme for the seals it cares for at the rehabilitation unit at Ard Jerkyll, Foxdale, and is suggesting people might consider contributing to the cause.

The unit is currently working at full capacity, nurturing four baby seals back to health, so they can be released back into the wild in March.

But it costs up to ?50 a day in fish alone, and the scheme helps provide the cash.

Jenny Corrin runs the unit (play audio file):

You can find out more about the seal adoption-share scheme, and how to arrange a visit to the rehabilitation unit, by ringing Ard Jerkyll on 851672.
