Peaceful demo planned at the Ayres

by isleofman.com 12th December 2009

A Douglas MHK is asking members of the public to join him in a peaceful demonstration.

Bill Henderson says he wants to protect the environment by stopping a motorised vehicle event from using a part of the Ayres Nature Reserve.

The 4x4 event, which has been run for several years, has been sanctioned by the Department of Agriculture which says strict regulations have been imposed and it doesn't believe any lasting damage to the area is likely to be caused.

Mr Henderson is asking anyone who has a concern to join him at 1.30pm on Sunday at Rue Point/Smeale beach for a protest walk.
