Colby woman improving after road accident

An elderly woman who was thrown from her car in an accident in the south of the Island is said to be in a stable condition and improving.

The 76-year-old from Colby was taken to hospital after the accident, which happened on the Castletown by-pass on Thursday afternoon.

The road was closed for nearly four hours while police dealt with the incident which involved her blue Peugeot 106 and a silver Nissan Terrano.

The 40-year-old driver of the other vehicle, a man from Port Erin, was treated at the scene for minor injuries, by paramedics.
