Fingers crossed for another award

Students at QEII High School in Peel are in the frame for another major environmental award, and on Monday evening they will find out if they have won.

Two teachers and four pupils will be at the Zoological Society of London, when the overall winner of the Jane Goodall Institute Roots and Shoots Award is announced.

QEII is already one of three gold medal winners, for the activities undertaken by students to implement practical, positive change for people, animals and the environment.

Among other things they carried out a Fairtrade survey around the west of the Island, built and distributed 70 bird boxes and are well on the way to planting 4,500 trees.
