The MEA says it's keen to find a Manx worker who can take control of the authority next year when its current chief executive retires.
Ashton Lewis will stand down next autumn after a 44-year career in the Island's electricity industry.
He took over as top man at the MEA after the ?120 million unauthorised loan affair came to light, and was project manager for the new gas turbine power station at Pulrose.
Chairman of the MEA Quintin Gill says, whoever ends up in the post, the authority will put Manx workers first:
