Multiple Santas Take on Recycling Round

by isleofman.com 10th December 2009

High-visibility workwear is taking on a new, seasonal look for Douglas Borough Council’s kerbside collection crew.

In the run-up to Christmas, the crew decided to take to the streets dressed as Father Christmas and his band of little helpers.

The crew’s decision to introduce some Christmas cheer to their round has the approval of both the Council which operates the scheme and its partner, the Department of Local Government and the Environment, which is funding the service in Douglas, Braddan and Onchan for the first three years.

Council Leader David Christian said, "The crew are to be applauded, not only for entering wholeheartedly into the Christmas spirit, but also for helping raise awareness of the importance of recycling, especially at this time of the year when households are likely to be generating greater quantities of recyclables than usual."
