Parents not happy with holiday extension

There's concern among parents over the extra day of holiday which has been given to pupils at the Island's schools.

The Department of Education has extended the Christmas and New Year break, which means lessons will now resume on Tuesday, January 5.

In a letter to all parents and guardians, Director of Education John Cain says it has been decided to close the schools on January 4 for a number of reasons, including the fact more staff than usual have been off sick.
