Police are investigating an incident in which a man was seriously assaulted close to the Wildlife Park.

It happened at about 2am on Sunday, when the victim was walking alone from Sulby to Ballaugh.

As he got near the wildlife park he was approached by a group of men and assaulted in what police say was an unprovoked attack.

He received extensive injuries which required hospital treatment.

The injured man attempted to flag down a number of vehicles which were travelling along the road shortly after the attack.

Police say they would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or who was driving on the Sulby to Ballaugh road between 1am and 3am on Sunday.

Anybody who can help is asked to ring Detective Constable Dave Dancox on 631307 or PC Kevin Quirk at Ramsey police station, on 812 234.
