Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne has defended his decision to allow four-wheeled drive vehicles to travel along the beach at the Ayres Area of Special Scientific Interest.
In the House of Keys yesterday, he faced questions after his department gave the go ahead for the event, which runs along the coast below the high-water mark.
Mr Gawne says it's not a new idea, and he is puzzled over the debate this year's run has sparked.
He says there are very stringent conditions which had to be met by the organisers before permission was granted:
