It's been revealed that Douglas in the Isle of Man is the only town to benefit in the will of a Scottish man of the same name who died recently.
It had been widely reported in the media, in the Isle of Man and the United Kingdom, that Mr Eric Douglas of Edinburgh had left money to around 20 towns around the world that bore his surname.
However, leader of Douglas Borough Council David Christian says that isn't the case, and the Manx capital is the only town among 20 or more beneficiaries in the will.
The others range from professional organisations to charities.
Mr Gordon left almost ?11,000 to the Island's capital, even though he apparently had no Manx connections, and Mr Christian has expressed his thanks for the generous donation.
Douglas Borough Council is now looking at how best to use the money in a way which would create a lasting memory of Mr Douglas.
