A misadventure verdict has been recorded at an inquest on a 44-year-old man, who was found dead in the back yard of a building in Bucks Road, Douglas on October 1.
The body of Stuart Sneddon was discovered by workmen who were clearing the area.
The inquest heard evidence from Egidio Abreu Drummond, a friend of Mr Sneddon, who said they had both taken heroin at or near the address on the afternoon of September 30.
He said he had tried to get Mr Sneddon to leave the area, but he had insisted on staying where he was despite Mr Drummond's efforts.
Mr Sneddon's body was discovered the next morning by William Smith, a landscape gardener who was clearing out the ground floor flat at the property. Mr Smith said he thought Mr Sneddon was asleep and hadn't tried to move him for about ten minutes, at which point he discovered he was dead and called the police.
Mr Sneddon's blood alcohol level was five times the legal limit for driving and there were traces of methadone in his body.
It was also clear he had been injecting heroin.
