The Ellan Vannin disaster 100 years ago was remembered in a Mariners' Service at Trinity Church, Douglas last night.
It was led by Bishop Robert, who dedicated a wreath, to be cast into the sea in memory of the 35 passengers and crew who lost their lives.
During the service captains Peter Corrin and David Cowell read out the names of the victims, and a number of hymns with nautical themes were sung, by the congregation and solo performers.
They included the poignant Manx Fishermen's Evening Hymn:
