New commissioner looks ahead

The new commissioner in Peel says he wants to give the people of the town 'a say'.

Business analyst Raymond Harmer was the successful candidate in yesterday's by-election in Peel, beating businessman Ian Davison by 23 votes.

Marlyn Bowie was third and Suzette Marshall fourth.

Mr Gimbert says the election was all about democracy and allowing people to be heard.

Mr Harmer polled 289 votes, followed by Ian Davison with 266, Marlyn Bowie with 241 and Suzette Marshall with 189.

The turnout was 28 per cent, which means just under a thousand people voted.
