Big vote of confidence in Island

Confirmation of the Isle of Man's top level 'Triple A' credit rating is extremely welcome, given the difficulties which have been experienced in the past couple of months.

That's the view of Treasury Minister Allan Bell, following the news top independent assessor Standard and Poor's has decided not to downgrade, despite the problems faced by the Island in the wake of the redrawing of the VAT revenue sharing agreement.

He says it's a major vote of confidence in the way the government's finances are being handled, and in its response to the huge reduction in income:
