Last month was one of the wettest Novembers on record.
There were 179 mm or 7.05 inches of rainfall at Ronaldsway, nearly twice the average for the time of year.
Only two days in the month, the 23rd and the 30th, were completely dry.
Howard Caine reports (text, below, from attached audio file):
Whilst the Met Office says the Island avoided the exceptional rainfall which caused the severe flooding in Cumbria, only two Novembers since records began, namely 2002 and 2000, were wetter.
The average wind speed for the month was 20.4 mph, more than four miles per hour above the long term mean and second only to 1977, which was also the only year to record more gales during the month than 2009. A highest gust of 61 miles per hour was recorded at Ronaldsway on the 19th.
Temperatures were above average during the month, only cooling significantly during the last few days, and both the minimum and maximum were 1C above average.
No snow or sleet was observed, but a thunderstorm on the 14th caused damage to properties in Douglas.
Believe it or not, despite all the rain, sunshine was close to normal with 64 hours measured.
