MHK slams Council decision

South Douglas MHK David Cretney is accusing Douglas Corporation of short-sightedness over its decision to withdraw from the joint scheme with the Manx Government to redevelop the Bowl.

Yesterday, councillors voted 10-6 against continuing to be part of the project.

It's now highly unlikely a new floodlit all-seater stadium will be the centrepiece of the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2011.

Mr Cretney says the Corporation has missed the chance to have a major upgrade of an asset, at half the actual cost:
