Minister explains Xmas parking scheme

There will be relief for Christmas shoppers despairing of finding a parking space in Douglas later this week!

The traditional Loch Promenade parking scheme begins on Thursday, to coincide with the switch-on of the capital's Christmas lights, and late night shopping.

Cars must be parked on the sunken gardens side of the pedestrian walkway, and a strict one-way system will be in operation.

Transport Minister David Anderson says the prom is a still walkway and drivers must obey the five miles an hour speed limit:
