Lauren takes top prize

by isleofman.com 30th November 2009

The Isle of Man played host to Claire Danes and Zac Efron last week, but the latest movie star is definitely home grown.

Fourteen-year-old Lauren Blaney, a pupil at QEII High School in Peel, carried off the top prize at the CBBC Me and My Movie awards, in association with the Children's BAFTAs.

Competing against four other junior directors Lauren's animated film 'Vern's Vacation' was judged to be the best and she collected the prize at the awards ceremony at the London Hilton on Park Lane, in the company of a number of celebrities.

She conceived, animated, edited and created the soundtrack for her movie entirely on her own and hopes one day to work for Aardman Entertainment, famous for its Wallace and Gromit series of films.
