A teaching union in the Isle of Man is promising to do its bit to help find savings, without disrupting the high standard of education enjoyed by Manx pupils.
Teachers around the Island were briefed by the Education Minister Anne Craine and senior officials at a series of meetings last week, to examine how the department could reduce costs by around 15 per cent.
It's to help offset the loss to the government budget of ?90 million next year and ?140 million annually after that, due to a sharp reduction in VAT revenue from the United Kingdom.
Mrs Craine says a whole range of measures are being considered, including not replacing staff when they leave.
