Traffic disruption in Bowring Road

Drivers using a key route in and out of Ramsey are being advised three weeks of roadworks begin today.

Six, one metre-deep trenches are to be dug along Bowring Road, between North Shore Road and Jurby Road.

They will be dug across the entire width of the road and pavements, between boundary walls on either side.

It's hoped the trenches will reveal the exact location of phone cables, water pipes and ducts.

Transport Minister David Anderson says his department needs to know where the cables and pipes are, and their depth and size, before a major reconstruction of Bowring Road begins next year:
