Dame Mary Peters for Sports Awards

Dame Mary Peters will be the guest of honour at next April's Sports Awards ceremony.

She represented Northern Ireland at every Commonwealth Games between 1958 and 1974 winning two golds in the pentathlon and a gold and silver in the shot put.

But the moment she is really famous for came at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich when she struck gold for Great Britain in the pentathlon.

Isle of Man Sport Chairman Geoff Karran says her work in the community at home is another reason why she will always be remembered:
