MEA trims its workforce

A concerted effort by the Manx Electricity Authority to slim its workforce, and thereby cut its costs, has resulted in a drop in staff numbers of around twenty per cent.

Answering a question in the House of Keys, MEA chairman Quintin Gill said the voluntary selective early retirement scheme, started three years ago, and other retirements and staff leaving the authority, had seen the total complement go down from 306 to just over 250.
