Concerns over road safety and levels of traffic dominated a public meeting in Ballasalla village hall last night, called to give local residents a chance to discuss the recently published Southern Area Draft Plan.
About 60 people attended the gathering, which was arranged by the local commissioners and Malew and Santon MHK Graham Cregeen.
Reducing the flow of vehicles through the village was uppermost in people's minds, and officials from the Department of Transport were questioned on various aspects of the draft plan, including the possible construction of a by-pass road.
