Primary pupils try out ice rink

Pupils from Jurby primary school were the first children in the Island to glide onto the Sure Skate ice rink today (Monday).

They won a schools competition to design an advert for the skating venue and part of the prize was to have a private lesson with Dancing on Ice star Kyran Bracken, who travelled to the Island for the official launch of the facility this evening.

The rink, housed in a huge marquee in the Villa Marina gardens, opens to the public for six weeks from tomorrow (Tuesday), and is big enough for 200 people to skate at the same time.

Kyran, whose company is behind the attraction, says everything is almost ready for the public to get their skates on:
