Closing day for submissions

by isleofman.com 20th November 2009

Today (Friday) is the last chance to submit views to a Tynwald select committee investigating whether the way civil legal aid is awarded in the Isle of Man is unfair.

The committee was formed following a petition for redress of grievance this year in which a Smeale resident argued the current system was one-sided.

He claimed it was particularly unfair when it came to family cases, with unlimited legal aid being awarded to one party while the other side was required to employ an advocate at their own expense.

Submissions must be forwarded to clerk of the committee Jonathan King at Legislative Buildings in Douglas or email j.king@tynwald.org.im
