Health Minister optimistic over cuts

by isleofman.com 16th November 2009

The Minister for Health says he hopes a year from now people will wonder why there was so much fuss about making cuts in the health service.

Eddie Teare was responding to the Manx Labour Party's concerns over the DHSS's recent consultation on the future of health services on the Island.

Mr Teare says his department has received a very encouraging level of responses and whilst no decisions have been made yet, he believes the system which has been in place over the last 60 years isn't sustainable and some things will have to go.

He says the Labour party's suggestion that administrators could be cut rather than looking at frontline services is over simplistic.
