Lightning could be to blame for power cut

by isleofman.com 16th November 2009

A lightning strike is being mooted as the cause of today's (Monday) major power cut in Ballasalla.

The Manx Electricity Authority says an overhead power cable could've been hit the other day and only just faulted.

It is believed there are still 20 properties off supply and the MEA says engineers will work over the next couple of hours to rectify the problem.

It's thought around 1,000 customers were originally affected around Ballasalla, the Blackboards and Santon Quarry area, as well as the Balthane Industrial Estate.
