by isleofman.com 16th November 2009

A long-serving member of the management committee of Eary Cushlin has been honoured by the Department of Education.

Director of education John Cain presented Nola Baker with a gift and flowers at the committee's annual general meeting to mark her retirement.

Eary Cushlin, on the west coast of the Island near Niarbyl, is one of two outdoor residential centres operated by the department.

Mrs Baker, who is the widow of former director of education Gordon Baker, had been on the committee of Eary Cushlin since 1987, was its chairman for four years and had been its treasurer since 1993.
