Regeneration scheme starting to happen

A scheme to create seven new local authority houses in Allan Street and Orry Street, Douglas at a cost of ?1 million is on the starting blocks.

The borough council is applying to the Department of Local Government for permission to borrow the money, and hopes to have the houses and apartments ready for occupation in 2011.

Chairman of the Public Health and Housing Committee Colin Cain says it's taken some time, but things are starting to happen:
