Man jailed for attack on police station

A 26-year-old man who armed himself with golf clubs and smashed the windows of a police station has been sent to prison.

Jamie Raby, of no fixed abode, admitted the vandalism attack when he appeared before High Bailiff Michael Moyle.

The court heard Raby was on probation when he committed the offence, at Pulrose police station shortly before midnight on October 18.

His advocate said his client had suffered severe depression and had lost his job just prior to the incident.

He had turned to drink and had downed twelve cans that night, so had very little recollection of what had happened.

Mr Moyle said Raby had been given a chance by a court three months earlier but hadn't responded to it.

He jailed him for six months and gave him a one month consecutive sentence for a breach of his probation order.
