Barclay Premiership Trophy to Visit Island

by isleofman.com 11th November 2009

Local football fans will have the chance to get up close and personal with the Barclays Premier League trophy this month.

The legendary trophy will be making an exclusive visit to the Island next week, and will be available on Thursday 19th November at the Victoria Street branch between 9am – 11am for photo opportunities with fans.

The visit has been arranged by Barclays Wealth and in exchange for a small donation members of the public will be able to have their photograph taken with the trophy by a professional photographer. Proceeds from the day will be donated to the Barclays Wealth Charity of the Year, Wish Upon a Dream.

Greg Ellison (pictured), Managing Director of Barclays Wealth, said, "I am delighted that we have been given the opportunity to bring the Barclays Premier league trophy to the Isle of Man.

"This is a really unique opportunity for football fans to visit our branch and have their photo taken with this amazing trophy.  I would encourage people to come along and take advantage of this opportunity while helping to support an extremely worthwhile local charity."

The trophy will be touring local primary schools and businesses during the two days it is on Island, with an evening reception and dinner to be held at the Mount Murray Hotel on the 18th November with special guests, ex Manchester United and England player Gary Pallister OBE and TV personalities Ray Stubbs and Rebecca Lowe.

Greg continued, "I am very much looking forward to the Premiership dinner and am delighted to be able to welcome Gary, Ray and Rebecca to the Island.

"I hope that the events of the evening will help to raise a substantial sum of money for Wish Upon a Dream and help to make the wishes of sick and terminally ill children on the Island come true."
