Neil Hodgson is to return to the British Superbike Championship.

The Onchan resident has signed for Motorpoint Yamaha, which is managed by former T.T. rider and three time winner around the Mountain Course Rob McElnea.

Hodgson won the British title in 2000 and the World Superbike Championship in 2003.

In 2004, he endured a frustrating year in MotoGP with the D'Antin Ducati team.

The 36 year old has raced in the AMA Superbike Championship in the United States in recent years and finished fifth in the overall standings in 2006.
