Minister expects job losses in coming months

Unemployment in the Isle of Man has fallen to its lowest level of the year, but the treasury minister believes that's the end of the good news on the jobless front for the time being.

The number of people without work dropped by 13 last month, taking the total below the 900 barrier, to 888, or 2.1% of the economically-active population.

But Allan Bell expects a number of sectors to be hit with losses in the final two months of the year, and into 2010:
