Douglas councillors are expected to be told today the extra charges which will be passed to the borough council from central government, following last month's VAT announcement.
The annual grants received for carrying out street cleaning and drainage work have already been cut by ?100,000 each, and council leader David Christian wants the local authority to withdraw its ?1.5 million contribution to the proposed redevelopment of the Bowl.
At this afternoon's monthly meeting of the council, he is expected to detail further charges to be passed on to rate payers, relating to the energy from waste plant and the kerbside collection scheme.
Councillor Christian has said his main aims are to secure services, maintain the town's infrastructure and avoid redundancies at the town hall, through what look like being difficult economic times.
