Plans for local government reform

An attempt is being made to streamline Douglas Council and make it more efficient.

At tomorrow's monthly meeting, council leader David Christian will propose reducing the number of councillors from 18 to 12 by the time of the next local authority elections in 2012.

On Agenda last night, he said he also wanted a new structure to be introduced for council business, to replace the present 'outdated' system:
