Adoption Week under way

The highs and lows involved in adopting a child are being highlighted in a series of events to mark Adoption Week, which starts today.

The Isle of Man Adoption Service handles the painstaking work involved in matching a child in need of a loving home with parents willing to offer one.

Fundraising events, banners on busy roads and a radio phone-in on Manx Radio's Talking Heads, from just after 12 noon today, will show the public the scope of the organisation's work.

Adoption Service director Chris Bateson says there are always more parents wanting to adopt than there are children available, and there's no such thing as the ideal adoptive parent:
