by isleofman.com 8th November 2009

The Manx Operatic Society is celebrating after clinching some major awards.

Its production of 'Titanic the Musical', at the Gaiety Theatre in March, has been judged the best show in the Northwest in 2009.

And Nikki Openshaw has been named best female supporting actress, for her performance in the show.

The prizes were presented at the annual National Operatic and Dramatic Association awards in Blackpool.

It's the society's 60th anniversary year, and chairman Karl Clegg is thrilled (play audio file):

David Artus received the prestigious honour of best actor for his role as Jean Valjean in Douglas Choral Union's production of Les Miserables.
