Island to fall silent

by isleofman.com 8th November 2009

The Island will fall silent this morning (Sunday) to remember its war dead.

At churches and chapels special services will be held to honour those who have given their lives for their country in two world wars, as well as more recent and ongoing conflicts.

The service in St Thomas’ Church in Douglas will be broadcast live on Manx Radio from just after 10 o’clock, as will the wreath laying ceremony at the nearby war memorial and the two minute's silence which will be observed at 11am.

The Island’s National Service of Remembrance at St John’s this afternoon will include the traditional wreath laying ceremony at the National War Memorial.
