Vagas B win big match; Nomads go clear

by isleofman.com 7th November 2009

A strong Vagabonds B turned on the style to win the match of the day in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield on Saturday.

Tries from Andy Pease, John Steele, Jay Kruger and Jack Moore, who also notched one conversion and two penalties, secured a 28-5 win over previously unbeaten Douglas B.

Champions Southern Nomads cruised to a 50-6 victory at Castletown to extend their lead at the top of the table.

A hat-trick of tries from Ross McCulloch, two each from Adam Dawkins and Al Corrin, one from Andy Lean and five conversions from the boot of Danny Williams ensured a romp over their neighbours, who notched two penalties from Dan O’Connor.

Emerging Nomads were too strong for Ramsey B with a 25-5 win at the Mooragh Park.

Stuart McConnell notched the Ramsey points.

In women’s North Division One, Vagabonds again showed their talent with a 31-17 win at Liverpool Collegiate.

Rachel Beckley (two), Fran Hunt and Abby Corkish were among their try scorers.
